Dolce Via: Italy in the 1980's
Damiani is pleased to announce the release of Dolce Via: Italy in the 1980s (Damiani, March 2013), featuring photographs by Charles H. Traub, with a foreword by Max Kozloff and a dialogue by Luigi Ballerini. Throughout the 1980s, Traub was a frequent visitor to Italy, and the resulting book is full of striking color photographs, shown together for the first time since the mid-1980s.
Photographing Grant: No Perfect Heroes
The story of Ulysses S Grant is an American epic practically without equal. Hollywood couldn’t dream it up. Even to this day Grant’s persona and his will to succeed are an enigma to historians and fiction writers alike. How can anyone explain one-hundred-and-fifty years later, the psychology that drove this great general: an undaunted will to move forward, innate self confidence despite repeated failure, precision of language and forthrightness of character. He demanded unconditional surrender but offered humility and generosity to those he defeated.
